- Self Calibrating 20-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter
Companies employing Digital Radio concepts, i.e. the digitization of incoming radio signals and subsequent processing by Digital Signal Processing (DSP) techniques, have avoided certain product spaces. This is due to the performance limitations of the state-of-the-art ADCs, and the inability to integrate the ADC with heavy DSP blocks and pure digital portions on the same chip. Raum has offered a unique solution to this problem through a self-calibrating 20-bit ADC, which has the capabilities to digitizes the incoming radio signal at the antenna in a wideband manner, such that any (or all) of the signals incident on the antenna may be subsequently demodulated by suitable DSP of the output bit stream. The prototype of the ADC developed at Raum employs self-calibrating pipeline ADC architecture to achieve the conversion with a resolution of 20 bits.
